Front axle pivot bushings
I am new to this site and not sure I am posting this question in the correct forum. I am searching for information and experience removing and replacing the front axle pivot bushings (pns IH-384837R1 and 711-3005) on my Cub 123 narrow frame (produced Jan'67). I have found lots of info and experiences with looseness attributed to the spreading of the chassis channel. I am almost convinced to squeeze the channel and replace the pin with a bolt but I believe part of the looseness is related to both bushing and pin wear. My engine is out for overhaul and I have removed the cast iron front nose/grill for good access. I have a spare front pivot bushing but I cannot determine how the old one is secured to the channel. Thank you.

I believe the rears were spun welded into the 'C' channel.
I replaced mine in the 126 I restored about 10 years ago and they were a real PITA to remove requiring a Sawzall and air chisel for the rear one. The front one, not so bad as it was only tack welded in a couple spots. The rear is beveled to match a chamfer in the C channel and then friction welded to it. Not for the faint of heart. Your new pin or bolt will have to be flush with the end of the rear bushing due to the tight clearance between the "C" channel and the oil pan sump in the case of a 12HP or larger. It will also need a grease relief turned into it as the original one did. Good luck!
