1872 Hydro input shaft
Hi,
Just registered ... totally new to any cub cadets and was looking for info. I am looking at an 1872 that the driveshaft let go doing some damage. Most of it looks repairable, but I am skeptical about the hydro unit. I only have pics the current owner has sent me. I do not know what the input shaft is supposed to look like. I am including a pic of what it looks like now.. perhaps someone could post a pic of what is supposed to look like? Thanks, Chuck

First, welcome to OCC....
 Well, that is a problem. As I see it, you have three options. (A) Repair the Sundstrand Hydro Unit by installing a new input shaft (B) Replace the Sundstrand Hydro Unit with a new one (C) Replace the Sundstrand Hydro Unit with a good used one. If this were me, I would go with A or C.

I do not have a picture handy on what one should look like. Wow, that is the worst we have ever seen. The damage does not look like it just happened when it let go. It should have been vibrating a while before it let go. I would get a replacement hydro unit.

What is he asking? What deck does it have? You can still buy it if the price is right.

Tell him good luck and run away as fast as you can. A new shaft from Cub is only $775. You would have to find a good used pump and they go for $250+. I'd like to know how the hell he ran it that long to destroy the shaft that bad. Looking at that, I'm pretty sure there will be many more problems with that machine.

Like others are saying. 1200.00, that is more than I have paid for running, operating machine with not much wrong.
