Please elaborate more so that we can help you. Post pictures of your cub cadet and describe what you have already done with it or the last time it ran for you or if it acted up before this happened.

Ain't them 1425's one of them late model xt throwaway lawn mowers?
I could be mistaken tho'
Remembering a long time ago them early JC penny lawnmowers
made by MTD, had a belt drive with a forward-N-Rev. lever that sometimes didn't work, or hung up.
They also had a problem with the drive pulley on the transaxle.
but prolly not this fellers problem.
If the belt from the engine is turning the drive pulley on the gear box, maybe it is in neutral but I'm not much help, as I've not had the displeasure of seeing one of those models.
sorry.

As far as I know Cub cadet MTD never made a 1425. They did make a 1415 and a 1525 tho. The 1415 was from 1988-1990 it was a lawn tractor. The 1525 was also a lawn tractor made by MTD made in 2003.

Oh I see, said the blind man.
So we have no idea what the feller has,
and dammit, my crystal ball fell off the work bench and broke all to pieces like cinderfella's glass shoe--( or was that humpty dumpty?)
oh well,
The mystery continues

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
