It looks real good and all, however I'm skeptical to the original paint. Go kick some tires and get a close up look, will ya, huh?

Below the grill if you look close you see original paint in the middle and a little overspray left and right of center

It is a very nice restoration, looks like many NOS parts.
But sure as hell would feel bad about using it. Guess it would sit in the rec room or the man cave. sure is a purdy red. ![]() |

Looks good to me too....but I can't get over the fact it's a CCC built one. Pass.

100% original paint, depends on interpretation. Could mean 100% original OEM purchased from cub cadet. Shoot, maybe it is original paint, who knows, my gut says no but I could be wrong. Would have to see in person to know for sure

Original paint can be buffed out to look that good. A lot depends on what rust blisters and chips don't show up in the pics, so ya gotta see it in person.
The next question would be mechanical condition. With that in mind, I would think that anyone that has put that much effort into appearance has done the same for operation, but there again, pictures don't tell that story so ya gotta see it and know what your lookin' at. Thirdly is the price. I think $2400 is kind of high for vintage iron, but if you go to the big box stores you can pay the same for crap. This is a very usable, maintainable, and quality machine. If all the above mentioned qualities meet the mark, a person who feels confident in maintaining their own machine cant go wrong. (JMO if the price is right) Coop, I 've got a pretty good monitor, can't make out wtf over spray your talkin' about. |

Not so much over spray but if you look just below the grill " at least on my monitor it seems like the paint is dull in the middle and you see some brightness in paint on edges of the rectangular piece. It makes it look like the edges were painted but not the center. I saw this while zoomed in on it. Like I said, could just be my screen quality, but my screens not so shabby either. Ironman, Do you see any difference in the paint on just that front lower piece?? front of the frame? EDIT I just now clicked on the link. I was basing what I said on just the pic posted here. The part I questioned must have just looked that way in the one picture and now I see not the others. The paint looks quite brilliant on other pictures. It does have a depth to it that I have never seen from original paint on a cub tho. Again however could be just the pictures making it look this way

Looks nice but are those footrest pads correct and why is the hitch plate missing? It's not IH built, not that it would matter.(Don't know if the OP knows because it's posted in the IH section.) I'd look close around the serial tag to see if you can see if the paint was reworked or if the tag has been removed and reinstalled.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
