Any charging systems experts?
I recently purchased a brand new starter/generator for my 147 to try and solve a long standing charging problem. I still get no results, even when grounding the "f" terminal to the battery. I have taken off each of the voltage regulator wires and checked for continuity, and they all appear to be sound (replaced about two years ago) Could the solenoid cause this problem (even though it starts just fine?) I have also "polarized" the generator per the technical section..got a little spark. The system seems fairly simple, I guess I'm just a little simpler! Thanks in advance.

If you remove the wire on the "F" terminal and take the belt off, then turn the key to make the S/G spin, then ground the "F" terminal to the case of the S/G, the S/G should slow down.
If it does not, then the S/G is not working. If it does, then the problem could be in the voltage regulator. The only other things to remember about a Cub Cadet electrical system are: 1.) Check and clean your grounds. 2.) Check and clean your grounds. and 3.) Check and clean your grounds.
