Default Elec Lift on 147

I'd like to say Hi to everyone here, been reading through alot of posts, and it looks like this is the place I want to be.
I have a cub 147 that I've had since the late 80's, and have suffered through the usual breakdowns; spindles, mowerdeck bearings, carb cleanings, but now i've run into something I need help with. The electric lift has failed, and living in Michigan, it helps to have a snow plow. I need some direction on taking this lift apart to see what has broken, and how it can be fixed. Right now the lift is extended, and will spin when energized. Before I took it off the tractor, it wouldn't do anything. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

R Bedell,
It sure does, any way of naming the numbers so I know what each part is. Thanks

I got a general information booklet from a friend that has blown up detailed drawings of the inner and outer workings of the lift. Thanks

Default 147 Electric Lift

ab147, Your electric lift should be manufactured by Duff Norton, Pn MPD 6405-6.
Go to their website and you can download a manual with repair instructions and a parts list.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
