Working on my newly acquired 149 and found I need to replace the spindle drive belt and pto drive belt that goes to the deck. I have found my model # of my tractor ( 2050047U) and the tag on the deck is 381 U1116. What deck do I have and where do I find my belt sizes??? I have looked at the belt and blade chart listed in the forum but must not be reading it right cause I cannot figure it out. Any help is appreciated....

Maybe this will help. You have a 38 inch deck. I can't seem to find the deck S/N breakdown, so if you deck has cast iron ends, then use the first listing instead. Since it's on a 149, it should be one the third version (71-74) but who knows what someone else put on the tractor, so it could be anything.
Somebody else will chime in shortly with the exact deck S/Ns. But since the two later models use the same belts, unless your deck has cast iron ends (instead of sheet metal) then the listings circled should work. Your tractor serial number is in 472205.

Haven't figured out what the third digit indicates. The 'U" means it was made in the USA. All decks seem to start with "1111" being the first production. 1112 would be the second generation, and 1113 would be the third, and etc. Yours seems to be the 6th generation of the 38" deck. In the CPE-2 Parts Manual, sometimes you see a distinction in part numbers based on the "1111" number. The belts you are looking for are: * IH-490489-R2 PTO Belt (3/8" x 80") * 954-3002 Spindle Belt (1/2" x 72") That is the best I can give you.

If it were me, and I have the old belts which did fit and worked, I would measure them, like this....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYEk5UFyN94 to get their size..... and I would got to this chart.... http://cubfaq.com/belts.html to find the belt sizes(s) in red, that you measured, and you will have your part number. Voila! |

Or just do what I've done a few times, go to TSC and measure the old belt, buy a new blue belt, go home and find that it's an inch too big or too small, and go all the way back to exchange it...

Or if it's like a lot of the crap these stores sell, you'll be going back again in 6 months to get another because the 1st one came all apart.
Case in point their cheap aZZ grinder wheels and emery cloth grit strips. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
