Default Scrap yard 124

I got the best deal I ever got on a cub this week. A good friend who has a good eye took a vehicle to a local scrap yard and he spotted a beautiful 124. He gave the scrap yard $100 for it and brought it to my house. Since he collects wheel horse tractors he traded me the 124 for a non running 314 I was given. The 124 has head lights with original switch and tail lights, sleeve hitch, spring assist, and creeper drive! It also came with a nice 42 inch deck. I replaced a blown head gasket this morning, did a quick tune up and she runs like a top and everything works! I just can't believe some idiot was gonna send this treasure to China for 8 cents a pound!

Great find, I’m glad it wasn’t scrapped. 124s are great, that series is my favorite narrow frame

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
