Was able to work on my 149 yesterday and this morning. Installed the grill and the hood. Starting to look like a tractor again. Took some pictures. The grill looks like it has been special made. My other tractor's grills do not look like this one. It weighs about 3 pounds. I don't believe the 2 retaining springs will keep it from rattling. The hood fits fairly well. Enjoy the pictures and have a great day.

That definitely is not a grill for a 149. The grill should look just like the ones on your other tractor's pictures. The emblem looks like it is off a QL model. As long as your are happy with it, that is all that matters. Looks like it is cleaning up nicely for you. The 149 was just the right tractor, WF with hydraulic lift and enough motor to work well with many applications.

I like the custom grill much better. What would it look like if you mount the emblem on the corner like the original?

More air for the engine area to move from its premises.
Most of the plastic ones are melted, after that series they were metal again.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
