Hey gang just reaching out for some assistance. Recently had the drive belt break on me, no big deal, put new one on and everything should be fine right? Well this is where the issue lies. Once I got the new belt on this thing barely moves. It .oves at a slow creep and will not go up a hill. You have to feather the throttle to get it to move. I've had this thing in the air while running all the pulleys are free spinning. Any ideas or guesses?

Pulleys are free it was indeed correct belt I double checked before purchasing. I did locate a rod with a threaded adjustment nut that connects to the gas/reverse pedal. Springs appear to be in good shape. Belt not tight with pedal up. Nothing appears out of place spring, pulley etc. It is a 2005 serviced regularly. Just trying to troubleshoot it before I have someone tell me it may be hosed.

I would bet you have the wrong belt. You still have the old belt? If so put a tape measure on it. and then measure the new one.

the belt should have tension when the pedal is up , otherwise the belt will slip

You might have received the wrong belt even if the numbers printed on the belt match the old belt. Mistakes happen in production too. Measure total length of both belts to confirm same length. Confirm same width and shape while you are at it. If those check out to be the same, double check the belt routing. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
