Started reassembly on my 1450, side panels were off when I got it. Despite all my searching I can't find how to attach the front of the side panels, the only holes are sticking above everything. Is there a rod that ties them together? Thanks for the help.

It’s a spring that holds them together

Or you could go to Lowes, home depot or any hardware store get a screen door spring, you might have to shorten it a bit, but it is much cheaper.

Get into the groove, boy you've got to prove......There is a groove in the bottom of them that fits inside of the frame. What I do is angle my side panel at a 63 degree angle (
![]() It looks like from your pic that you have the bottom outside of this groove in your frame..... Cub Cadet 123

What you need is a wing screw- a screw with a head on it like a wing nut. You may be able to find something to work at the hardware store. I ue a fender washer on the screw to cover the big slot that is in the sidepanel.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
