Default Rear mounted sprayer

Picked up an IH 782 last year. Pulled it in the shop tonight so we can take care of a few "issues". Dad wants to use it to pull a tow behind sprayer. I suggested that a rear mounted one would be much easier to navigate--this machine is going to be for spraying all around the farm. Our land is a bit hilly, would I need front weights for say a 15 gallon sprayer mounted reasonably up close? Anyone ever did this and have some pics you want to share? I don't have any sort of hitch so this would be bolted to the rear/frame. Not looking to pull it off for other work, so the frame can be bolted pretty solid. My biggest concern is keeping the front end on the ground--may need a weight bracket.

Your thoughts..........

Well, 15 gallons of water at 8 pounds per gallon would be 120 pounds plus any brackets you make to mount it. So lets say somewhere around 150 pounds mounted close, as a guess. Have one of your biggest friends stand on the hitch and ride around to see how the tractor handles. That should give you a pretty good idea.

You won't need weight.

When I spray, I want those chemicals as far away from me as I can get.
I would go with a trailer setup.

This is for using the wand for the most part, trimming around buildings, ditches, wood lines, etc. That's why my concern on stability, not driving over manicured lawns. We have a trailer sprayer now, it just gets a little aggravating sometimes.

I thought I saw a setup on here a couple years ago where someone built one. maybe it was for a sleeve or 3pt equipped machine.

I built this one last year, it's a 35 gallon tank but I've never filled it past 25 gallons, the front end has never felt a bit light with it on my 2182 but the 60" Haban deck adds quite a bit of weight.

Looks good! That may have been the one I was thinking of--seems I saw pics of someone spraying around their farmstead with one. Did you have a hitch to mount it on or did you attach to the rear end and frame?

I like that also John. Maybe we can get him to build us one? But I would want a wand also if needed?

I used a reciever hitch mount, I'd like to upgrade to a 3pt hitch at some point but never have the spare $500 to do it.

I do have a wand on mine with about 20' of hose but I wish I had spent the money to put a 50' hose reel on it.

I ended up buying TWO of these,,

one for pesticides, the other for herbicides,,

I had a sprayer I did not rinse adequately, one time.

I sprayed the grape vine for bugs, the left over herbicide was enough to kill the plants.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
