Hello fellow Cub Cadet fans,
This is my 1971 127 I bought from the original owner back in 1986 for $500. I used it for mowing in Royersford, PA, then in Culpeper, VA, then in Haymarket, VA, then in South Bend, IN (We've moved a lot). Then we moved to Sussex Co., NJ in 2000 and with almost no grass to mow it has been relegated to the shed for the past 10 years. We also have a property in Tyaskin, MD(lower eastern shore of the Chesepeake Bay) and just purchased an adjacent cleared lot. So, after its long rest, the old Cub Cadet is finally needed again. After lots of fuel system cleaning I finally have it running pretty good. However, it's not charging the battery and I am looking for a little advice on this(I have grounded everything exstensively). If the starter is working fine does that indicate that it should also be functional as a generator? Is there a simple means to determine whether the voltage regulator is functioning correctly? Any help will be greatly appreciated. This is a very impressive web site and a great testimonial to a fine little piece of machinery. George |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
