I have a Cub 2155 with a CH15 engine. A friend has a same era CH16 with a blown engine. He put a new carb on it shortly before it bit the dust. Will his carb fit my CH15?
Thank you for any help |

My spec# is 44508. Would the other engine spec# have to be the same, or do others interchange?

From what I have been able to find out. The carb from the CH16 should work on a CH15. The engine you have uses Kohler part # 12853169S, the CH16 uses Kohler part # 1285393S. Although the numbers are different in looking at the info they say this carb is also used on the CH15. Also the CH16 is evidently only used in Cub Cadets. looks like the main difference is the CH16 has the infamous SAM ignition. Looking at the pics of the 2 carbs the CH16 carb has a fuel shut off solenoid and I don't see one on your engine so you may need to come up with a power supply for it or remove it, cut the plunger off and reinstall it. Hope this helped.

Hello All,
I got the carb off the ch16 (no solenoid) a put it on my ch15. It's hard to start and when it does the governor is hunting. I did the governor shaft adjustment and have been experimenting with the spring placement. I thought it was pretty good and tried to mow. Now it runs good for a few minuets then sputters and shuts off. I have the gas tank off and I'm cleaning everything out. Would a bad fuel pump act this way or do they either work or not? Thank's again for every ones help. Rick |

I did take the carb bowl off and cleaned with carb cleaner. Cleaned the tank out and blew air threw the line. After it started I sprayed carb cleaner in the carb at full throttle little at a time. Just got done mowing 1-1/2 hours and running good. Yahoo!! Will get the lawn sweeper out tomorrow after work and see how she runs.
Thank You All, Rick |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
