Hey partner, you ought to check out the yard roller I pulled along with my model 71! Its here at OCC, in the thread section of my profile! I know these garden tractors can pull a lot. Just thought something you'd like to see.

I have towed a land scape trailer with a ton of gravel on it and I tow my NITRO bass boat around the yard and back up an incline to the garage with my 2000 GL it is no problem towing but the stopping and keeping the front wheels on the ground for steering can be. CURT

We used to pull a header cart with a 20' grain table (bean head for a combine) around with the cubs we had on the farm. That's probably about 4,000# give or take.

I think the short answer is, you can tow all your tractor will pull without damaging the hitch plate.
Different story if you are talking about tongue weight. The only time I've ever damaged a hitch plate was when my leaf vacuum overturned and the tongue on the leaf vacuum bent the hitch plate. |

Traction, braking and tongue weight or lack of are the big concerns. I installed the new style hitch plate on my 1811 and 3 point lift on the other. With both plates I feel better pulling on the frame not the aluminum housing rear end.
FYI a Scag turf tiger weighs more then a 1811. When you drive up the ramp on a 6x10 trailer. Don't ask me how I know this. ![]() |

I was worried about the wall thickness in the cast iron rear end and pulling the bolts out. What got me thinking about it is the pictures I have seen on this board of castings broken by bolts that are too long getting inserted and tightened down. That drawbar has three bolts holding it to the transaxle. I wondered if anyone had experience with the cast iron getting damaged because of overloading the drawbar.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
