Default Cub 109 Engine Swap ?

Can anyone give me any info on what kind of problems I would have in trying to replace the K241A in my 109 , with a Kohler M12S ? Will the mount hole match , will the K241 PTO fit the M12S ? Stuff like this I would like to know , if anyone has done this . Thanks

If the M12 is out of a Cub Cadet, it should bolt right up. If not, then good luck.

Why would you do that anyway? I'm not a big fan of the Mag engines as replacements for the K series. They don't run near as good. Too many things are "locked" in place on them and you can't adjust it. (Timing is one example.) What's wrong with the motor on your 109?

Long story short , I traded the 109 to my brother-in-law after putting in a new rings/piston/rod , and it later blew , and I mean BLEW , I think it was run to hard at first . Anyway , I offered to put another engine in it for him , at his expense , and I found the M12 that a friend has , and it is in a Wheel Horse .

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
