If someone with a 1000 could please take a pic of the back of ignition showing wiring and pins and also front grilles and the cover and dimensions of the cover plate over the driveshaft just in front of the gear lever please. Having problems sourcing parts here in OZ, so will be making cover plate and grille and rewiring from scratch (have wiring diagram) but my ignition has different pins. G=Ground B=power-in then I have L-S-M.
L and S sorted, I have no A and the M on mine doesn`t run power out. Thanks Heaps in Advance. |

That's the wrong ign switch. L=lights, S=start, M=magneto. You need a different switch. The 1000 is a point ignition.
We have wiring diagrams in the tech section, here: http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22 Put up an ad in the "Wanted" section, or check with the sponsors and I'm sure someone can get you a tunnel cover. Member on here Mlamar makes wiring harnesses. I'm sure he can ship you one. Not sure what shipping on this stuff would be to go across the "pond" but...... saves you a lot of headache. |

Thanks for the reply J-Mech ,yeah thought the ignition was wrong (came with it). I have no problem doing the wiring or making the tunnel cover and yeah freight gets pretty expensive across the pond, ok for smaller stuff. Might get the right ignition from over there. And yeah already had wiring diagram from here.. Thanks heaps
I had wired up a basic on/off switch and starter button as wiring was stuffed when i got it. So its supposed to be a 4 pin ignition? |

The correct Ignition Switch for the 1000 is IH-61524-C3.
Attached is a image of the "back" of the OEM Switch. There are several Cub Cadet Parts Suppliers here that will ship to Oz. Here is one.... Supplier As far as the Tunnel Cover, I'll measure up mine and get back with you.

Thanks heaps for that Roland, yeah the ignition on mine was the 5 pin but had the 5 pin plug attached to the wiring that did look all standard. Apart from the wires that are supposed to go to the "A" pin were joined to the "L" pin, Have just finished rewiring it back to standard just need to get standard ignition and the 4 pin connector block or I will just use normal terminals.

This Parts Lookup Site is what I prefer. It is directly to the OEM and not a third party. And who knows better than the OEM...... CC Parts Lookup

I use the CC site directly too. I think Parts Tree is just a link to it too though. Just be careful when using the parts look up for assembly. Some items aren't detailed in the right order. For example the drivetrain on my 1200 shows the throwout bearing, spacer and teaser spring in the wrong order. But, as far as basic parts go, it's great. I use it to find bolt sizes too. If you are working on anything detailed, the service manuals are available in the technical section too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
