Default In need of information on 1450
I have a 1450 that is in need of an ignition switch. My switch is a 4 pole switch . Can I use the newer model switch that is a 5 pole. As these are more than half the price of the 4 pole

Perhaps. One would have to exactly know the internal schematic of the new Switch to see if it was applicable.

Hello and welcome! Shouldn't be a problem getting the correct switch. So what if it's $25-$30 it's been on there 30+ years.

Well Brian that's the problem the tractor does not have a switch on it someone before me had it straight wired, It is kind of a basket job and I'm attempting to restore it. My first restore on anything and was only trying to see if I could save some $$$

IIRC, the QL switches all had 5 "poles" however only 4 were used.

Heah Larry, if your capable of rewiring it, go for it and if your not sure theirs someone on here I think that makes wiring harness's. I know you'd like to save some $$$ but take my advice spend the money do right do it once.

You can't make a wiring harness for what they get for them. It's one of the best deals on cub parts there is, money can be saved other places I think

Well gang I took your advice and ordered a switch that is O E, kinda pricey but you only go around once, "Right"? also ordered a new wiring harness that was a DEAL for sure. Thanks for the advice. As I said this is my first restore, so i'm sure i'll have plenty of questions.

Anytime you have a damaged/butchered wiring harness then a replacement is a good investment (in your sanity if nothing else). How about some pics of your machine? Plain Jane, rusty, super rare, barely enough parts there to call it a lawnmower, or a garage kept machine that a little ol lady only mowed her 1/4 acre yard with---we like them all!

John sorry its been awhile getting back to your comments referring to the 1450 I'm attempting to restore. Yes I do have some pics of it and will get them on as soon as I figure how to do it. Its kind of a long story on how I came by it. A friend of mines Dad who worked on tractors for over 50 years got ill, and last year had to be put in a nursing home. So they were trying to get rid of some of the things he had collected over the years from his work shop. He had 5 cub cadets that were the mid to late 80s. But this one was back in the corner of the shop covered with a tarp. I ask Billy (my friend ) about it and he told me his dad had bought it several years ago with the idea of restoring it himself. He started breaking it down but never finished. Any way long story short I got it. All the parts are with it except the ignition switch, pto switch and a mower deck.
Last week I completed the break down and I'm about to start the clean up and hopefully start smelling paint soon. I'm sure as this project progresses I will have many questions, and would be greatful for any help.
