Default Lots of dirt.
I have a cub gt 2148. It has a 48" fabricated mower deck. There is so much dirt collecting in the engine compartment, and air cleaner I am concerned about damaging the machine. The air flow comes from the vent in the dash in front of the operator. With the mess I find in the air cleaner, what do the fins on the flywheel look like. Thinking of removing the hood permanently. What would you do?

It's got an air filter right? Run it!

FWIW, your supposed to cut grass with it, not blow dirt.... keep it in the grass.

Years ago I looked at the original diagram for the 1250 tractor and as I recall it had a dust shield. Mine didn't have one when I bought it (was used...rode hard and put away wet) and can only guess it got ripped off at the first oil change. I didn't have much of a problem because the fan was down to nibs when I got it. But I suppose an operating fan and no dust shield might explain it. If I ever get it back together (new fan blade in place) I'll post back.
