Default "Original" tire interchange?

Howdy folks, I have a 62-63 Original that currently has horrendous Town&Country tires on the rear in 6-12 size.

Eventually, I will get a pair of the re-makes since I really like the look but for right now, I'd just as soon go down to a local shop and get something immediately available on it.

What sizes in current tire offerings are closest to if not exact matches for 6-12?

I keep getting the "that ain't s size, boy" treatment if I mention 6-12 and don't want some goofball under or over sizing them.

I have the pretty rounded fenders and feel that one tire in particular which a fella said would be OK was going to rub.

Todd.

The boys at your tire shop are ignorant. They still make 6-12 tires. Check millertire.com to see what's available.

I went on eBay and searched for 6-12 tire and got a ton of results, seems like your tire shop is just to lazy to look.

You could just find the tires you want, order them, and pay the tire shop to install them if you don't have the equipment to change them yourself. I don't know what kind of tire shop you are dealing with but unless its a local shop that deals with EVERYTHING, you most likely are talking over the counter guys head, based on my experience.

+ miller tire.com! I would not waste time on a quick fix / replacement tire. Miller owns the rights to the tire you want from Firestone, and they have them in stock. I'd order there and in the mean time get your Original's rear rims cleaned, and painted on the insides. By the time your done your tires from Miller Tire will be on your door step!

... Then, I'd take one of your new 6-12's to your tire shop and show them what a 6-12 is and that yes, you can "still" buy them. And when someone comes in asking to buy something that they've never heard of, they should get off their lazy butts and look it up!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
