Default Quality time with the 108

I pulled the 108 out of winter storage today to get it ready for PA plow day this weekend, I was thinking it would be a quick oil change and adjust the brakes but it turned into a bit more. I noticed the head gasket was leaking so I pulled the head and decided to pull the valves and clean them while I was there, I used my patented paint stick valve removal method and had the valves out and in in about 10 minutes. I will need to pick up a head gasket tomorrow so I'm going to take the head home and true it on my glass workbench while I watch Street outlaws, I was pretty surprised how clean the fins were when I pulled the tins. I'm going to clean the carb while I'm at it since it seemed to run weird today, I had to keep choking it to get it to the garage. Once the engine is back together I just need to adjust the brakes and it will be ready to plow, I guess I can't complain since I've owned this tractor 5 years and this is the first time I've touched the engine or carb.

It has studs with a nut then a long spacer and then another nut, I think I'm going to replace them all with bolts except for the two that the heat shield attaches to.

you will still need the thick washers though, and the other shield will need spacers also....

Hand sanding heads makes me tired. Your a body man though, so you should be used to wax-on, wax-off.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
