I bought a cub cadet 1650 it's my first one and when it is running the deck lift works fine it will pick the plow up and drop it but when it comes to moving it doesn't.want to even at full throttle and when it decides to move it goes to extremes then you can kind of control it. Any ideas of what it is the fluid is full and not really dirty. But smells pretty bad. Thanks in advanced

Change the fluid and the filter. Also check the condition of the trunnion to see if it's worn causing slop.

I would do a general internet search along the lines of "hytran vs generic fluid". Hytran is what is recommended by Cub Cadet, but is more expensive than generic fluid.
This topic has been debated many times before. Here are some discussions from our forum http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ghlight=hytran http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ghlight=hytran |

Don't forget to get a new gasket and be sure to wash the rear end housing out well while you have the cover off.

Did you change the fluid and filter in the one that you just put in?
Did you change the fluid and filter in either one of them?

The great oil debate continues, but in these transmissions, use HyTran. We know HyTran works. It doesn't foam very much and it absorbs moisture. HyTran is, In my opinion, worth the money. You won't have to change it twice. |

Foaming can be caused by fluid type, but not usually. It's generally caused by cavitation. Air entering the system on the suction side. Low fluid level is a likely cause. So is a hole in the system. Hytran can foam just like any other oil when air is introduced.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
