I picked up a 190-304-100 tiller off Craigslist this weekend. Did not really need it but it was close by and the price was right. The PO cut the wiring harness and the belt. Ordered a new belt. Will make a wiring harness. It did not include the lift bracket that attaches the electric lift to the rear of the tractor. However, a couple hours with a band saw, drill press and welder solved that problem. The electric lift works fine after sitting outside for months if not years. The pictures show it "as is" when I got it home. Its installed on a 2185 now. No pictures of the install, yet.

Nice find! My dad had a 304 tiller on his 2000 series and loved it. I would check your gear box on the side. Sometime depending on use they go bad and u won't keep the chain on. Don't get to invested in it before checking that out before u invest in an expensive belt.

Thanks for the heads-up on the gear box. I ordered a cheap belt to get it turning. As you say, the good belts are $110 to $120. Based on the amount of paint remaining on the tines, I do not think it has seen much use. I have the electric lift wired-up and working.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
