Default 105 hydro leak

Checked rear end for fluid level last summer. It was dripping fluid on the floor, maybe a tablespoon in 2 weeks. When I took the plug out the rear end was pressurized and about 1/2 cup of fluid came out. No leaks since then---untill last week. Took out the fill plug, and the same thing happened, rear end pressurized, and another 1/2 cup of fluid ran out. Two years ago, the tractor was "split" to replace the famous seal. Cleaned out the rear end, replaced the Hytran the year we got it, and again when I rellaced "the seal" To get to the point, why is the rear end becoming pressurized ?

Just above the rear cover (on top of the rear end housing) there is a breather, it could be plugged or painted over.

Default 105 hydro leak

Thanks "Sam". The vent you mentioned is on the top rear of the trans axle case, is flush with the top of the case, and looks like a solid metal plug ? Thanks, Steve.

Sintered brass is the correct term IIRC.
I need one also for my 126, it is completely gone!

Your 126 will not have one,as it is a gear drive and gets it's ventilation through the shifter.

Sintered metal plug huh? Now that finally makes sense. Could not figure how (what looked like) a metal plug could be a vent. The vent is painted shut, so it looks like that is cause of the the rear end pressurizing. I think I will try to scrape the paint off. Concerned that any removers/solvents will drive the paint even deeper. Thanks

That vent plug should be available from any hydraulic shop that sells fittings as it is used on a lot of equipment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
