Well I took it out of the box to mic everything and it looks ok except the cam which whoever took it apart didn't oil or cover. The crank was oiled and in a bag.
It's going in a 982. So if you've ever wanted to see way inside of your CH, here you go!

Seems like the perferct engine for a 982!! So tearing it completely down makes it cheaper to ship??
When you sliding it in the 982?

Couldn't tell why it was tore down. Package deal so there isn't much as far as $ in it. I was pretty pumped about it till this:
Ordered a new cam it was 80$. Small price compared to the rest of the things

You may want to replace the lifters also so that they break in against the new cam.

I would have polished that cam and ran it. Surface rusted.... it isn't hurt.

Serious.
Just like Jeff said.... Scotchbrite pad/wheel or take it to a crank/cam shop, or anywhere that sends cam/cranks out and have it polished just like you would a crank. Electrolysis cleaner is a good option. Honestly, if it was in my hands, I'd bead blast it everything but the lobes and those I'd hit with a fine grit cloth. Don't scrap it, it's still good. I have about 10 laying around like that that I plan to use if necessary. ![]() |
