1811 front wheel/tire upgrade

Hey guys, I'm going to put Carlisle Tru Power 26-12x12 ag rear tires on my 1811, and I'd like to upgrade the front tires as well. Is there a larger tire that I can put on my existing rim (bigger than 16-6.50x8)? I'm thinking that I'll need a bigger front tire to be proportionate with the larger rear tires. Any thoughts?

26X12X12 is a bad idea. Stick with the stock size. No reason at all to go larger. You will gain speed and lose power. That's why the SGT's were geared lower.... to accommodate that tire size.

Ok, I'll take your word for it. I cancelled the order on my 26-12x12's. Thanks for the advice!

For front tires, I like the V61 style. You can get them from miller tire.

For rear tires, if you want ags and price not an issue, the Firestone 23 degree treads are rated highly. Otherwise many have Carlisle tru powers

If you are plowing in Winter, many people prefer chains over ags.

In all cases I would recommend loading the rears with fluid (search here for the options, but one of the cheapest is windshield washer fluid). If loading you might consider tubes as well (to help reduce corrosion risk).

If only mowing, turf tires are designed for a reason (not tear up the yard)

I have an 1811 with ebay cheapie ags on the back and V61's on the front. I like the setup - with a lot of rock in my lot the chains slip a lot when they hit a piece of granite, and with loading and also wheel weights the ags have performed well in the winter (there is no substitute for weight, but it can tear up the yard if you have soft soil. So this combo works for me.

My next one will be V61's in the front and loaded Carlisle or Firestones on the back. Tubes in all of them.

All standard size. (although I may have gotten 6 ply for the V61's - they were a royal pain to get mounted. I cant imagine its needed, 4 plys should work fine)

Only using turf tires, mostly mowing duty.

Turf tires work best when using chains for ugly, cold, wet, white stuff. Junque the grandsons pray for! Imagine wishing for seat time to push snow?
