Default 1864 headlights
I just got my headlights hooked up (been off since I got the tractor). Now, when the tractor is running and I turn the lights on it blows the main fuse and tractor dies ( I assume fuel solenoid loses power). If the tractor isn't running and turn the lights on everything is OK . where would you guys look first or has anybody else had the same problem? Thanks.

Agreed. The last Cub my Pappaw bought (1863) blows fuses. I haven't had the time to find the short, but did pull the blue wire from the ignition switch and my uncle that abuses it hasn't told me it blew one since. I would like to get it over here this winter and find it while doing a good cleaning ect.

I did notice when the engine was running and i switched the lights on the volt light came on but was dim and lights never flashed and then the engine died. Maybe that helps

Make sure the key switch is in good shape and what not. I had this happen on a 2284, turned out the connector on the back of the switch went all fun house mirror on me. Cleaned the connections and crimped a few new ends on the wiring harness. Hasn't done it since

My 1862 blew a fuse every time I turned on the lights. Turned out that the headlight bulb was broken and the element was shorting out against metal housing.
