Loaded the 102 in the truck to go mow the grass at Mom's old house yesterday. I got unloaded and made 1 lap around the perimeter. All the sudden it sounded like I ran over a stump, then it slowly wound to a stop.

Will do jay! I decided to pull the motor when I got home and it spiraled out of control after only taking 20 minutes to get out. I would have been to this point by 10 last night but decided to wait for daylight before I flipped it to pull the column and drive shaft.

I still swear that the engine bolts is what holds it all together! The same exact thing happened to mine when my oil pan gasket was leaking. Took the engine out next thing I know it was exploded all over my shed

That's one reason I still really like those early narrow frames.. They are so stinking easy to work on.. True rugged simplicity that works and will still be working 50 more years later!!

Time for a spray gun, mask, and a few quarts of Case/IH ironguard paint! The only problem after painting mine is that I can't imagine ever cutting grass with it. It'll get dirty!

Well, I have not made much progress on the restoration. I have really been missing my NF, so I pulled the 67 out of the barn and put the "good" K301 in it. Added a 3 point, headlights, changed dashes, and did a half fast steering box rebuild. I put the blade on it today and drove it around the yard. This thing is nice, don't let the po's paint job fool you! I love these NFs!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
