Ok well I had an ad up on CL and a guy called me and said "I have an old cub I think not sure of the year or model if you want it I'll sell it to you for scrap price". My response was, yeah I'll come look at it. So after and hour of pushing the dam thing on the trailer with help from the old man "it had 4 flat tires" I took a pic and sent it to my good friend Alvy and we where giggling like little schools for what I got it for. $8.43+tax = 6 pack of Heineken. I got a sweet 73 Cub Cadet with deck and with low gear in it. I'll get more pictures soon. The list of things I know are; steering is locked up, clutch is locked up, tires are shot, front left spindle is bent, needs a seat, needs front grill, hood emblem and some more little stuff.

Congrats again Mike. Excellent deal for sure. 12 horse in a 73 is quite the power house too, a custom 1273 if you will. You've been wanting a round fender cub for quite some time and you got it now! Thanks for posting

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
