Anyone know the size of the adjustment nut on the hydro lever (in the tower) for a 147? need a crows foot wrench that particular size and would rather know the size before I go to the store and buy one.
Thanks

Check with Jeff in PA. I think I sent him a tool or dimensions to make one of those to adjust the nut with. It's been awhile and my memory sucks.

This is purely a guess based on the following information:
Are you talking about part #20 in the pic? Parts tree says there is a nyloc nut that goes with it. That nyloc nut crosses (per parts tree) to a 3/4-16 nyloc nut for a 44a mower deck spindle. A 3/4" nut takes a 1-1/8" wrench. ![]() image.jpg http://www.partstree.com/parts/cub-c...sion-controls/ Bill |

Are you looking for a crows foot, like used for removing a ball joint from a spindle or are you looking for an open end wrench to fit a nut?
![]() It sounds like you need an open end wrench ![]() |

With the motor in it I don't think you can swing a wrench in there.
My answer to this would probably be to buy 6 sizes and return 5 now that you've got a ball park size to work with. |

I believe that Berwil is right about it being 1-1/8"
He's looking for a crows foot like what goes on the an extension for a ratchet, not a pickle fork for breaking ball joints/tie rod ends loose. I have only ever adjusted two of them, I did the first one while I had the steering column out and used a regular open end wrench, on the second one I used the "wedge" method like is described in the manual, surprisingly it worked very well.

thanks guys....and Lew. I tried the stock wedge method and couldn't figure it out. I need an open end crows foot wrench to get in there with the motor still in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
