Cub Cadet 126 voltage regulator

Hi Guys,

I have a 126 Cub Cadet. My voltage regulator is bad. I have a batt wire, a GEN wire and a Field wire. Is there any way I can put on a regulator that has G, B, F, L wires? Actually I did put it on and left the L block with nothing on it, but my gauge goes all the way up on the charge side. I think it going too high. Would any body know anything about this?

Not all v-regs are created equal. Was this other regulator off of a Cub Cadet? Was it new or used?

It will do that if the battery is low,then it will go back to center,is the battery good or new?
if new it should not do that.
Do you have a voltage tester?

No the voltage regulator is off a older sears tractor my gauge says its putting out about 17 volts but I think thats to high am I correct?? the battery is one year old I have 12 plus a little in the battery when I tested that before I started the cub the regulator that was on it look like a new replacement but not sure thats the way I bought it but it was not charging Thanks again all Edd\

You're right, that is too high. You should be in the range of 14 if it was working correctly.
