If it was still wet and slipped, it should have gotten warm enough to dry the water in it.
I've never seen water make a clutch slip. They are basically the same as a brake. A little friction and they dry right out. |

![]() Yeah sorry trans clutch. When i went to take a ride up to neighbors about 2 hrs after washing it, it took right off in 2nd but when i got out on road and put it up into 3rd it didnt want to go. Never had prob before washing it. I have never seen water make a clutch slip either and clutch was still engaged with rear in gear so shouldnt have been much get between clutch and pressure plate? Takes right off 1,2 and reverse. A little "grabby" but tgat is normal. Also just took shaft loose from engine and slid engine forward to slip belt in for hydro pump. Will look better tomorrow

Just a thought, but in the process of "blasting all the grease off" could you have inadvertently put some oil or grease on the clutch disk itself? Seems unlikely, but...

More than likely, something is worn, broken or out of adjustment. Pics would help. OP: The chassis manual tells you how to adjust your clutch. |

My guess is one of the springs in the clutch assembly broke. You'll still get some pressure, but not enough for heavy use. Looks like time to pull it apart!

Think i have a broken or worn spring. Will have to take it all apart tomorrow and check it out. Should i take some emery cloth and brake cleaner to clutch disc? Just to clean and rough up a bit to make sure there is no oil on it? 20150503_201316.jpg My boy helpin to get her cleaned up and a little bit of a face lift.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
