Default Cub 800

Need a little advice on a Cub 800 with a 38 inch deck. Are these low HP Tractors decent? I have one for sale locally in remarkable condition with a few things that need to be done, but very well taken care of. It is all original non restored, but has had paint touch ups along the way. Problems are it needs carb work of point adjustment according to the owner. Any idea what these a worth? I gave dealt with 1250's and 109-149's. Buy or no buy?? Thanks

Gerks that's the rarest production model cub get it ............quickly!

A bonus is rare parts tht it should have, muffler, air cleaner, aluminum muffler box shroud and if starter is original it will be small with no frame modification. . Some of us weren't lucky to get those parts and paid through the nose for them

I won't comment on price because it's a long debate but the 800 is the prince of the quiet lines

Gerks, I'm very close to you (Winfield) and saw that 800 too. Hope you get it! It looked very nice in the pics.

Edit I just looked again and it looks VERY nice. It's a 'make me an offer' kind of deal. I'm not sure whether or not the guy knows it's desirable. Another ad showed a 2072 that didn't LOOK bad for $695.

He sent me some good pictures and I have noticed that the frame has been cut for the bigger starter. Can you still get the smaller starter? Does that kill the desirability of the 800? Dash looks a little rough also. Any thoughts?

I am not an expert on the 800 and not knowledgeable about them at all, but I do know that I passed on one once and have regretted it ever since. Best of luck on whatever you decide.

Just emailed the guy on st. louis craigslist with the 800, He said he has had a lot of interest. Most people want him to part it out. That being said he will take no less than 500 bucks. A good deal for a collector wanting to add it to their collection. I will be going through there Friday night. I would be tempted to pick it up if I can sell my 106.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
