Default Finding the right pulley...

A few months back I inquired about using a "standard" drive pulley on the crankshaft for the starter/generator. With that being said after taking measurements of the original pulley with the clutch basket on it (that i don't need anymore) it seems the pulley does not have a very wide groove for the belt to ride. My original measures 7.5" o.d. with a .375" v-groove opening to fit on a 1.0" shaft. Can anyone direct me to a similar in size drive pulley to purchase that does not have the clutch mechanism?

Midwest Super Cub sells them

http://www.mcssl.com/store/midwestsu...r-engine-parts

If that's too much $$, then try McMaster Carr.

Thanks to all for the info. Looks like the $5.75 one from grainger is the deal of the day. I just need to e-mail them to find out the max RPM of it. I need it to handle a max of 4000.

It is a Browning brand #AK74X1 and has an RPM rating on it of 3420.

$40 and up elsewhere.

The engine in these runs at 3600 RPM. I set all mine to run at 3800. I wouldn't suggest that pulley as it's RPM range is too low.

Probably have to go with either the steel or aluminum one from Midwest Super Cub as you mentioned earlier to get the higher rpm rating.

Although MSC does not show rpm ratings for them.

Hey Ford4150,
Might want to check that pulley on yours....................

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
