Default Curious about 1864 headlight upgrade

I just noticed one of my headlights blew on my 1864. New stock replacements seem to cost a small fortune. I've done some searches on replacing the stock setup with something else and have seen a few things on switching to sealed beams on other tractors.
Has this been done on a 1864 that you guys know of, and if so what all was done to make it all work out. I'm guessing the whole front headlight setup in it now has to be changed out. If its not an awful lot of trouble to do it, I may make the swap.... that is, if it will look right.

Thanks

Joe

$5.29 at O'Reilly's.
$5.69 at Napa.

Seems cheap to me..... The sealed beams are $6.99 and up.

I thought all 1864's had sealed beams.... Parts book shows they all do.

No, mine are the halogen plug in type, and those things are $25 and higher. Just looking for a cheaper alternative.

That's good to know! I had tried to cross reference the bulb but didn't find anything so thought I was hung with buying original. I don't mind staying with it for 6 or 8 bucks.
I'm sure there is a lot of cross references for different stuff I don't know about.
Thanks for the tip on the bulbs!

Joe

NAPA isn't too far from me, I picked up two bulbs, $5 each on sale.

You might try using the Cub only in daylight hours?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
