I have mine apart and it looks bent where the pull rod hooks to it. The whole system was looked up and lots of wear where T/O bearing rides on it. I am going to weld that up and fix that but want to know if I need to straighten the other or if it's a factory bend. I have been looking around but have had no luck seeing a good pic of one. TIA

If it looks bent, it probably is. They are pretty much just a straight piece of channel with the pressed in bump where the T/O bearing rides.
The bumps need to be nice and smooth and even thickness on both sides so the TO bearing rides properly. I just replaced mine rather than screwing with it, ain't worth wrecking a TO bearing. Mid West Super Cubs has them for both WF and NF but they are HD and pricey. |

Thanks, I figured they were straight and mine has a very custom looking bend where brute force and pedal leverage overcame it's ability to hold original shape. They don't seem to be hard to find but after looking at my bank account this is turning into a low buck fix instead of a quality restoration. I still need a plow and the sleeve hitch components, ags for rear and a spring assist. It's easy enough to take these apart I think I might try and fix this one up. I am looking at a heavier clutch spring so this one might not hold it's shape since it's been "flexed". A big pile of cash sure would make these jobs a lot easier!! Think I will go down and see how much "persuasion" it is going to take to make it straight. Then will decide on a little welding wire and grinding or $50 for a new one. Pic still would verify what I am thinking.
Has anyone had any luck straightening one and it lasting?

Thanks for the pic, me and this not knowing how to post a pic on here is getting old fast!!!! My fork has one side notched out and looking at this it might not be bent. It only has one side that is rolled for strength but I am thinking the bend in it is for the linkage to line up better. Looking like burning a little wire is in the very near future. I will take a few pics so if I can get them on here in the future I will have them.

On second thought, after a few minutes brainstorming here, a repair might be able to be affected using a split piece of say 1/2" or 3/4" double wall black pipe cut to the correct length welded in place of the "bumps"
I may just try that! Looks to me like trying to machine the "bump" back to spec's after welding it up would be a tuff call. Ya might want to check the condition and wear on the pin and holes in the support as well as the release arm and maybe replace the pin if worn too badly. This is one area where more "meat" on the hanger and release arm where the pin goes through might be a good idea, like adding a bushing or two. Just yesterday I started to rescue a couple threaded 1" exhaust elbows (125 & 126 K301's) using a double wall 1" black pipe nipple by cutting 1-1/2" off the threaded end of each to replace rusted threads on the ells.. |

You can see where the rod goes through why I thought it might be bent. The bearing contact point is a real no brainer on the wear. Ok, second pic didn't load. will try to get it now. I am doing this on the phone and then checking with computor since I can read it without moving screen around!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
