Exclamation 551 Blower Tensioner Pulley Spring (Dimensions please)

Can someone do me a huge favor and post a picture of the tensioner pulley spring on your 551 blower? Can you also grab a couple dimensions (length, spring diameter, etc)?

Last night I realized my recent purchase of a 551 did not come with that spring. All local Cub dealers don't have it in stock, and I'm hoping to give it a workout tonight. Hopefully I can find something similar at the local hardware store (if they're still open).

Looks like the spring is going to be worth the price of gold by what I've seen.

Mark

Just my 2 cents but it may be a bit late to get your blower ready at least for this storm. But good luck. Hope you have a plan B.

Day late or a dollar short as always. Haha.

You're probably right, but I work best under pressure so we'll see what happens. Plan B is my old neighbors f450 mason dump with a v-plow. Actually truth-be-told, that's plan A. The cub is plan B.

I don't have a 551 to get you a length..... But, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Mount the blower, use your hand or a pry bar to hold the tensioner pulley tight. Measure the distance between the spring mounts, and get a tough spring that is shorter than that distance. If you don't get a tight enough one, they are only like $6..... so guess. Should be pretty easy.

Mark, I looked on Partstree and found the spring part # to be 932-0384. I then googled the spring to see what was available. Believe or not there were a lot of hits for it - even Sears!. One of the places listed the following - Extension Spring, - .62 X 6.12 .

Hope this helps you outsomewhat. I also crossed the number to see it it was the same spring as used on the 450 blower. It is not. Prices range from $ 4.00 to about $ 9.00. Seeing your in CT, I see there's someone who has one used from an MTD Tiller in Turners Falls,MA

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
