1450 steering
Decided to do some maintenance on my 1450 yesterday since it's been my main mower for the past year. For some reason I thought I'd take a look at the tie rod ends and surprise, the left side one was barely hanging in there, it would have broken off in a few hours of use. At that point my life flashed before my eyes as I mow on the edge of a 30ft drop, and not being able to turn at the right time means going down the hill. Ordered 4 of the steel ball tie rod ends from mcmaster , but a good reminder that even though these machines were made to last, they're getting close to 40 years old and should be thoroughly checked for damage and wear from 40 years of use.

I've had a set of tie rods break on dad's 782 while mowing before...talk about fun trying to get it back to the barn. Of course it broke at the furthest point away from said barn...
