It looks like both of these braces will work to add strength to the rear housing and stiffen the frame, is there any reason to choose one over the other? Are there clearance issues with the shape of the race brace? I wanted to install a brace on my two supers but only want to do it once. Sam, since the regular brace was your design, your insight would be valuable to me.

No 3 point hitch at this time on either tractor, only a 60" deck and a 450 blower on the 2082 and a 54" deck and a 451 blower on the 2086.

Get Sam's brace. It is top notch stuff and will work even if you add the hitch later.

Looks like the general consensus is in favor of the SGT brace. Is Xtreme the best (only) place to get these?

My SGT axle brace came in for the 2082, got it painted and am ready to install it. I was wondering if I have to drain the hydro oil I just changed in the rear to install these braces or are the bolts I remove in blind holes? I guess I should have asked this question before I did the yearly maintenance. One more senior moment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
