Smile 123 rescue...need help with spindles

I drug home a 123 as part of a package deal. It was sitting in the woods. Previous owner built a fire beside it. Its got half a rear tire left on it. A bare rim on the other side, a bare rim on the front axle, and its missing the spindle on the other side. Plus the steering linkage is gone. Question is, can I use a spindle from a wide frame? I wanna put wheels an tires on it to get it off the trailer. I was just going to scrap this thing, but I can't!!! I have a complete 12 kohler with tank, jenny, drive coupling that I can install. I told my wife I've named this tractor Winston!!! "We shall never...surrender"

Well luckily they pulled the hood and grill out of it before they decided to burn it. But they did get what po said was a nice original fiberglass seat!! But I figured just getting it rolling on aired up tires would be a small battle won for ole Winston!! I'll try an get some pics tomorrow.

The 123, being the first year of the hydrostatic transmission, is worth saving!! Well, heck, they are all worth saving. Glad that it has found someone who will care for it and breathe life back into it. Thought you might call it St. Elmo, though.

It WILL be quite a task and many, many hours. I put LOTS of hours in my 125 makeover, but when your finished and step back and look, there's a lot of satisfaction in seeing what you've done. Saved another one Good luck with yours, it can be done.

Wide frame spindles are different that narrow frame so it won't work, pm me if you need to buy a spindle.

Got a complete narrow frame axle from a friend thats into pulling. Plus I had a spare set of ag tires for the rear. So Winston is now mobile. Once I get my work area cleaned up some Ill be able to role him in an finish taking him apart and start the rebuild. I need to get my pics uploaded!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
