Default Look what I got for $25!

Rescued a Cub cadet model 71 from rusting away. It was under a overhang lean to off a barn. Guy sold it to me for $25. Engine turns over by hand and seems to have compression, so we'll see how it goes. Needs a S\G, voltage regulator, wire harness and few other things. What is NAPA VR that would work for model 71?
Thanks
Also was the Kohler K161 7hp a decent engine?

The K 161 engines were very tough.. They are also very well balanced and run very smooth when they are right. In my opinion they are balanced a whole lot better than the 10 and 12hp.. my choice for a chore tractor.. they don't have the hp for heavy mowing but otherwise a great little engine..

Nice find!! Hope you have fun with it

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
