Default My "new" 127

I just picked up this 127 tonight. Not knowing a whole lot before hand I think I overlooked the fact that the deck on this ol girl may not be the right one. It is different from the pictures I have been able to find. The tag on the deck has been painted over and someone tried to remove the paint by scratching it off making the tag unreadable. If any of you fellas can help me to debunk my thought about this or confirm my mistake I would appreciate it. It appears that the drive pulley on the deck is not aligned properly with the front pulleys and there is no clearance between the drive pulley and the lift bracket when it is all the way up. I mowed a small strip to test it out with the deck down and it cut well I am just concerned. Thanks in advance.

That deck is not correct for that machine. That looks to be a 44a which came on quietlines and I think on some wide frames before the quietline but its not ment for a narrow frame

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I didn't notice the belt alignment until after I got it home. What are the model or part numbers of the proper decks? I understand it will take a 38", 44" and 48" I just am uncertain of the correct model/part numbers.

I do not know the part numbers off the top of my head sorry. If I can get to the shop tomorrow before work I can look on the 42 on my sons 127lbs. But just about any deck k from a 100 all the way to a 147 should work just fine. I would recommend getting one from a 1*4 1*5 series or 1*6 1*7 as they use the quick attach setup instead of the bolt on like the earlier cubs. It will be a simple pin on and go for yA

I ran a 126 with that same deck on it for 2 years with no issue and it sure did cut nice.

I think you can keep using that deck, but you might want to swap out the mule drive for one with the tilted idler pulleys. These mule drives are interchangeable with the Quiet Line tractors, but on the QLs the idler pulleys direct the belt to the off center main drive pulley on the deck. If the deck cuts nice, I'd keep it. Alternately, you can "adjust" your current mule drive pulleys to work with a heat wrench. Otherwise the belt will wear out faster and may jump off the idlers.

That is good to know about the mule drive. The belt jumping off was my main concern. I may baby it along while I find the proper mule drive or deck. I spotted a couple on craigs list but can't get a response from those who listed them. Thanks again guys I love this joint! I love this little tractor too...makes me feel like a kid again lol!

I don't believe a mule drive off of a wide frame will work on a narrow frame. however you might be able to remove the pulley/arms off of a wide frame mule drive and install on your narrow frame mule drive. You could also twist your pulley arms to angle the pulley's like the ones that came on a wide frame.

I have a 42 on my 126 and a 44 on my 1250 and 782. I much prefer the 44. especially with the front gauge wheels welded on.

I was wondering about the fitment of that as well.

I just mowed my entire 1 acre yard with the grass about a week over due and it mowed it down like nothing. I am going to have to address the slop in the steering and the hydrostat likes to take off. Is there an adjustment to put more tension on the lever to keep it from jumping up to full speed?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
