Default 149 hydro filter

Picked up a 149 several weeks ago, and just starting to work on it....

It's in decent shape, but needs some maintenance sooner than later. Changed to oil, fuel filter and line, and spark plug. Next is the hydro filter.

Anyone know the NAPA or Wix number for the hydro filter? I might change the fluid, but would need to go by the dealer and get some Hytran and a gasket. It's going to be a while before I can get there....

Thanks for the info, and for replying so soon!

Looks like some extensive research was done to get that list together.... Fantastic.

If your going to change the filter I would change then fluid also even if you use hytrans from the parts store. I'd rather have a new filter and new off brand fluid than a new filter and old fluid. I use fluid from tractor supply and it works great.

I see your point about the fluid and filter, olds45512.... I agree.

It's a danged curse, isn't it? Taking time to do things the right way.

First and now to the second aspect.....We have an understanding that you cannot mention your cub here unless you post pictures of it!

Just funnin'. We'd love to see some pics of your 149 if you get a chance to snap some shots of it.

Oh there will be pictures....

I'm curious about success with non-Hytran brand fluid as well....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
