What's a good price for a 194 Cub lo boy? I only saw it for about a second while driving by on the highway, but I may go look at it later when I have more time. It looked to be in good condition. I'm assuming it runs good also. Is there anything I should look for on it? Common problem areas? The sign says $1150

Uhhh 194? There were only 3; 154, 184, and 185. Grab a pic and we can help out a bit more. There are several guys on here more knowledgeable about Lo-Boys than I that will chime in with things to look for

It's a 184, not 194. My mind sometimes thinks one thing but what happens is totally different, in this case typing 194

Agreed. Not everyone gets the "Lew" price. But on occasion it happens.

I have a 154 too.......

A running/working lo boy with a belly mower deck (but without a cat 1 hitch) brings between $2000 and $3000 around here. One with a 3pt lift will bring $3000 or more.

Seriously, the price that was mentioned ($1150) is about going rate. Highest I've seen people actually get here in Illinois is around $1500. Oh you see them listed at $2K or more, but they seldom sell for that. Personally, if I was looking to buy a runner, that would be my cap ($1500). These things are just like our Cubs, they need a lot of work. Even the runners. All kidding aside, that price is in line. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
