Is that really a good deal?
It looks like it's been outside a bunch and not very well taken care of which would have me doubting the maintenance and general condition. J-Mech pointed out how expensive these machines can be to fix. So, is it really a good deal? Just wondering, I don't have a desire for one. ![]()

I wouldn't call it a really good deal.......
$500 would be a really good deal. $750 is pushing it. I think it's been sitting out a long time too...... |

Well, if you thought $750 was not a good deal, looks like the price just doubled to $1500.

If the hours are truly 500 it's got a ton of life left. I don't think it's a bad deal even at 1500, but then I wouldn't buy it because I'm cheap..

That 500 hours could represent 2 things. 1) When the hour meter stopped running, 2 the actual hours on the machine.

Paint doesn't look too bad to me.
Someone posted that 782D down in Texas on Epay a little while ago. Now that had faded paint and looked tough. Brought $1225. Now location does make a difference. http://www.ebay.com/itm/cub-cadet-78...p2047675.l2557 If the hours are correct and it runs good as the owner states, then it is probably worth $1200-$1500. Now would a buyer, especially me, like to pay less, yes. But its a CC diesel and most people do research before listing stuff anymore, hence the "hard to find" comment. Market and demand drives the prices. Any other time, I see 'em listed for $2000+. There are/were a couple 782D's in Minnesota on CL for $2500 and $3000 or something like that. Did they sell? IDK. Would I buy them? NO! ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
