Default Clean 782

My first red tractor. As clean as you will find (with exception of the deck). It sat in a tight barn for much of its life, never been painted, and everything works as it should (including the safety switches I have learned already). The paint isnt perfect, but I like the original patina so will leave this one alone. No dents or bends. A couple small scratches on the hood.

Would like to figure out a way to polish the hubcaps a little better. But they are there. (although now that I think about it the hubcaps will have to come off to put the weights on for snow duty). Otherwise Im just going to wax it (my wife will get a kick out me waxing an old tractor)

A series I motor. But starts easily and runs super smooth. The linkage to the hydro was acting up a bit (mostly just stickiness from sitting too much) and the PO just didnt want to deal with it.

I didnt 'need' another tractor. For the money I didnt think I could go wrong but after getting it home its much better than that.

This one came with a 'parts' tractor, which turned out to be a 1450 with a blown engine (that I dont need so am going to have to find a way to pass it along).

WOW! Even IH built! Hold onto that one!

Try steel wool on the hubcaps. Just don't scratch on the emblem in the middle!

Nothing on the 1450, I havent brought it home yet. Appears to be all there, but in a different barn which wasnt nearly as tight so its rough.

I hate those stinking safety switches! GREAT find, I love the Chicago, Illinois tag, as well.

Try the steel wool like John suggested, just be careful; less is more on those ol' hub caps. Then a little chrome polish and you might get lucky.

As far as the Hubcaps go, USE good Tinfoil and a spray bottle with water and 2 to 3 Tbs of 70% Alcohol. It will get the rust off without scratching them and shine up the chrome. Works Great.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
