Did IH ever offer a higher capacity external fuel tank? Perhaps something that would set off the rear fenders and behind the seat?
Thinking about relocating the fuel tank on of my Cubs - don't know that I would do it, but considering it. Not crazy about refilling the fuel tank over a hot, hard worked engine in the middle of a mow.

Mount it out front. Just remember all the single cylinder cubs came stock as gravity feed so it has to stay above the carb wherever you mount it. kohler did make a mechanical fuel pump that other brands used it can be mounted to a cub kohler with no modification. I,'ve considered moving it to the front I''ve seen a lot of big tractors with a tank like this pic below( could only find a pic of a green one though) trouble is the kohler engine is designed to bow all the hot engine air out the front so idk. I say go for it however you decide to do it and post pics!

I've seen the ones on the big tractors (at least pics), but Wheelhorse offered an auxiliary fuel tank mounted to the rear of their tractors as an option.
Here is of pic of one such tank and that was kind of the direction I was leaning. We'll see. I'd probably add an electric fuel pump to get the fuel over to the engine.

yeah put it on the back as far as I know IH never made one. The only thing with an electric pump is I doubt a single cylinder kohler carb isn't meant to take a lot of fuel pressure. you can buy the kohler mechanical ones new still (just looked them up on ebay 36 bucks)it just mounts below the carb and runs off the camshaft. there is a block off plate right there easy to put on I would assume.

Pullers use small 1-4 psi electric pumps all the time. I got one at Napa before, but can't remember the number off the top of my head. Worked just fine on a stock carb.

If you wanted to get crazy you could probably mount fenders from a newer tractor that has the tank integrated into it. Might pick up a cup holder that way too!

Or you could use an impulse pump from a snowmobile, outboard, or Briggs and Stratton has them , if it's off of a two cylinder snowmobile you could plug one line or T them together. You can get impulse from the dipstick tube or the breather cover or the fuel pump block plate(not sure on the fuel pump block plate but in theory it'll work)

Forgot about the pulse pump! I put one on my dad's 1211 and it works great! Added a fitting to the fuel pump hole cover like jonjunk said.
