Well, technically, another 1811 as I already have one haha I've been eyeballing this one for a bit, located down in Peoria, IL. Guy started by listing it on Craigslist, then on eBay once it didn't sell. I think part of his problem is he had it listed as an 1810, not an 1811. Anywho, it's a little late in the day for a road trip, but it's never too late for a Cub!

Well here she is. Sorry about the pics, they aren't the best. Anywho, got there about 4:30 and there she was, sitting in the yard; it just couldn't wait to come with me to its new home!
![]() Got home and turned the key; nothing. Well duh, I knew it had a bad battery. Got another Cub out to jump it and all it would do is crank. Checked fuel, pretty low, so I added some gas. Still nothing. Replaced the fuel line because the filter looked iffy, still nothing. Poured a shot of gas and even later a shot of starting fluid down the carb, still nothing. At this point, I've been at it for about an hour checking this, tightening that, etc etc. Tired of messing with it, I backed up to the garage and pushed it off the truck (no easy task with a flat tire). So, I'll have to dig into it to see what it'll take to get it going. The good: when the engine ran, it sounded good so it's got to be something simple or stupid I couldn't find in the dark. It's got some BIG tires on it. They are 12 Carlisle's, iirc. Doesn't matter, they're coming off so maybe I'll toss them up for sale. And with a wash, she should clean up alright. I'm thinking I'm going to get the rest of the decal on the hood off because that bugs the heck out of me. She's also "only" got 687 hours on the clock and the spark plugs looked good when I pulled them. So, here we go; another 1811 works when I check it out but doesn't work when I get it home thread (for you guys that remember when I got my first one ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Well good news, got half an hour in the garage between things today. Put a good set of tires on and borrowed a battery from another tractor. Turned the key and fired right up. I got the multimeter out to check charging and nothing. Hmm. Then I noticed when I bumped the dash, the ampmeter went to charging. So, I've got a lose wire under the dash somewhere. Rechecked and boom, 14.6v. So all in all I'm happy. If you guys are interested, I'll keep updating the thread as I make progress on the 1811.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
