782 Oil Pressure/Hydro lurch
Hello again guys I got my new plow pulled off this morning (it was a nice score, with a QA42a, but for another thread) and sharpened my deck blades & mounted up my mower. Took it out and mowed the ditchline between my Parents house and the family farm down the road. Tractor runs smooth and cuts nice but the oil psi has me worried.
I installed the mechanical sunpro gauge that others have used on here, and at cold start its around 40-45psi, but after running for awhile the psi dips.....I was a touch under 20psi when I finished. I can't hear any odd engine noises. I don't recall if I have sae 30 or 5w-30 in it right now, but I think its 5w-30. Anyway am I being paranoid or should I be concerned......or switch to a heavier oil? The other thing is at times the hydro wanted to lurch faster/slower while I was mowing, without any input from the lever or the brake. Didn't do it all the time but when it did it was kind of annoying. I have NOT serviced the tranny/rearend since I got the tractor in the fall. Thanks for the help.....Brian

May I suggest you follow the Kohler recommendations as seen here.... Engine Oil

I have a magnum 18 that had oil pressure issues. I switched to Rotell 30WT oil and as of yet, no issues. It seemed to only have the issue in the summer, so we'll see if that truly fixed it soon.
As far as your hydro, sounds like it's time for a trunion rebuild!
