Cool Getting the 125 going...

Well, it has been a pretty good "cub day"! Spent the day with my little "helper", my son. He doesn't get to spend the day working here with me very often because, although he looks older.... he just turned 7, and the shop isn't a very safe place for him just yet. (He still gets into things he shouldn't.) BUT, we made a lot of progress on the 125! I bought this thing late in the summer and didn't know what to do with it. Originally, it was just for parts.... but, it looked like a good machine, so I though, "What the heck, let's get 'er runnin'!". I pulled the carb off it a long time ago and got it cleaned, but still waiting on a few small parts for it that haven't came in. Put a tube in the R.H. rear tire the other night, and will probably tube the other later. Got a tube, but it seems to be holding air for now. Anyway, today, we drained all the oils out of it. Motor oil looked good, but the rear..... had a lot of encapsulated water in it. Along with paraffin build up. So, until I can get the machine in good working order, I think it is going to get ATF and Sea Foam, then a later drain and refill of Hy-Tran. (Not spending the money on good oil till I know it is going to run and drive.) Pulled the tractor up in the air and started working on the frozen hydro handle and brake. Time, PB Blaster, WD-40 and a pry bar finally freed up! Then, we fixed the broken roll pin on the front axle pin. Spirol pin was sheared and the axle pin had worked loose. Get my carb parts in, flush the fuel system, get a battery and we will see if she will run! Sorry for the long post, but now that your up to speed, I can just post updates! Here are some pics from today!

Just curious but do you just do a 50/50 mix of at and sea foam? I have never heard of this mixture. Do you drive around with it in?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
